Tuesday 9.45 - St Olave’s Church Hall, Marygate
Tuesday 11.00 - St Olave’s Church Hall, Marygate
Thursday 10.00 - Online, via Zoom
Our face to face classes are now being held at St Olave’s Church Hall on Marygate. The hall has plenty of space to allow for social distancing, and we have developed a Covid safe class, that still holds true to the SECE curriculum, and the Suzuki philosophy. There is plenty of parking available in Marygate carpark, and we have plenty of space for buggies etc.
Our online classes are running on zoom on a Thursday morning. The class uses the same SECE curriculum and is an excellent preparation for when we can return fully to face to face classes.
The best way to prepare for classes is to listen to the Suzuki repertoire daily. Our wonderful curriculum is a mixture of classic nursery rhymes with some action songs, and newer additions. It is available to buy in CD format, or on popular streaming services such as Spotify and Apple music as ‘Lullabies, Action Songs and Rhymes’ by Sharon Jones, David Jones and Rob Inch. Start your daily listening routine today!
Is my child too young?
Not at all! We actively encourage newborns to come along to our classes, which can also be wonderful, calm spaces for mothers-to-be. The online class will be an opportunity for you and your little one to become familiar with the repertoire and routine of a class, ready for when we are able to return to face to face classes.
This lovely video shows the benefit of attending classes from the very first heartbeat: https://suzukiassociation.org/media/from-first-heartbeat-2/
Is my child too old?
We take children up to the age of four, so if you have a three year old, please contact Laura to discuss joining a class.
Toddlers are welcome to join at any time.
What time should I arrive?
For face to face classes, aim to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the class. This will give you and your child time to settle, have a drink and a snack and to go to the toilet.
For online classes, make sure you have time to prepare your space for the session. Try and remove distracting objects, and have all your instruments ready. Ensure your device has zoom installed, and that you have the meeting number and password ready.
Is there parking available?
There is plenty of parking available at Marygate carpark.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, you don’t need to bring anything special for face to face classes. There is plenty of space to leave buggies and bags. Please leave mobile phones, drinks and snacks in bags throughout the class.
For online classes you will need a ball to roll, a scarf or a shaker to dance with, and a drum (a plastic tub will work just as well).
Can I bring two children with me?
As the class is focused on developing the relationship between the child and their carer, every child should ideally be accompanied by an adult. If you have two or more babies please contact me to discuss options.
Will there be a chance to chat to other parents?
We aim to have comfortable spaces for you to connect with other parents before and after class. Unfortunately under the current climate we cannot allow parents to mingle before or after class. However, we are very close to the Museum Gardens and other city centre venues should you choose to meet with another family before or after class. Please bear in mind the current restrictions when making plans.
At the end of our online sessions, I will keep the meeting open for chatting. We also have a Whatsapp group for parents to connect.
